This Week’s reading is very interesting and intriguing as I become able to do an in-depth analysis of cultural sensitivity. This week the topic is about understanding the gender differences while treating the patient and the staff relations with the patients. It has made me understand how cultural values and beliefs are important to someone. For instance, In chapter six, there are myriads of cases discussed that show how cultural beliefs are important. For instance, the concept of female virginity and purity is a wroth noticed in the Muslim culture. The same is the case for female Genital Cutting which is consistent with Islamic belief. In the textbook. It states that “female purity is a major concern” (Galanti, 2015, 134). As a result, it may unleash some significant repercussions in the health care system.
